Sewanee Rum Tea Punch
"Watch Out" Serves 100-150
*An omitted addition to this recipe, which you will not find in published
versions of the Charleston Receipts Repeat, are two dirty socks at the
bottom of the trash can.
Difficulty: Easy, Serve Immediately
- 1 20- gallon trash can (clean)
- 3 gallons dark rum
- 3 gallons tea, brewed strongly
- 9 16-ounce bottles real lemon
- 10 pounds sugar
- 30 pounds ice
- 4 dozen lemons
For smaller quantities:
- 1 quart tea
- 1 quart rum
- 1 cup sugar
- 12 lemons
Directions
- Fill trash can half full (of ice)
- Pour in warm tea and dark rum
- Blend together
- In a large bowl, combine sugar and real lemon and add to mixture
- Slice whole lemons and add to mixture
- Stir ingredients well
- Keep plenty of ice on hand to add
