A little gem of a recipe I found last night...

Sewanee Rum Tea Punch
 "Watch Out"  Serves 100-150

*An omitted addition to this recipe, which you will not find in published versions of the Charleston Receipts Repeat, are two dirty socks at the bottom of the trash can. 

Difficulty: Easy, Serve Immediately
  • 1 20- gallon trash can (clean)
  • 3 gallons dark rum 
  • 3 gallons tea, brewed strongly 
  • 9 16-ounce bottles real lemon 
  • 10 pounds sugar 
  • 30 pounds ice 
  • 4 dozen lemons 

For smaller quantities:
  • 1 quart tea 
  • 1 quart rum 
  • 1 cup sugar 
  • 12 lemons 
Directions
  • Fill trash can half full (of ice) 
  • Pour in warm tea and dark rum 
  • Blend together 
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar and real lemon and add to mixture 
  • Slice whole lemons and add to mixture 
  • Stir ingredients well 
  • Keep plenty of ice on hand to add
